Pilot Institute weekly news noted a few DJI leaks. Neo2 noted. Presenter noted maybe a more FPV model. Avata 3 might be more biased to video. If the Neo 2 is for real and stays sub 250 with design goal of an immersive FPV quad with more power and longer flight times. Will be happy and interested in. Have no needs for any of the autonomous Neo features and could care less about the relatively weak image capture capabilities. So many video/image platforms in the DJI line up to choose from. Sure hope Neo 2 fills the niche for immersive FPV. A sub 250 replacement for the DJI FPV flying potato?

Yeah, been watching those rumors for a couple weeks now.
Price rumors are upwards of $1500?
It will be a little chunk of flying gold.🤑

At $1500 it better include at least the Goggle3 and MC3 or DJI FPV RC3 plus 3 batteries and charging hub. Avata2 fly more kit pricing for a Neo? Must be significant improvement over the Neo. Or just more internet BS.

I could justify ~$500 for a Neo2 plus batteries and hub if it is a sub 250gm immersive FPV platform designed to replace the DJI FPV. A windy day manual mode "Neo" that would be still less painful when I crash trash it vs. the Avata2. Would probably sell the Avata2, but at less than 50 cents on the dollar or less or not worth anything for used quads it might be better to just keep as a back up to the Neo2 for windy day flying.

I would like to see the Neo 2 have an active built-in RID module to qualify for Part 107 Cat 1 operations over people in the U.S., right out of the box.. Outside of that, I’m not sure there will be enough to get me to upgrade. The Neo’s camera is “good enough” and I have a Flip for higher quality footage.

Because of its form factor, the Neo is limited in capabilities. Granted, it’s a fun little drone to fly, but yeah, I wouldn’t pay any more than $500 for a Neo 2 Fly More Combo kit.

One thing I'd like to see is obstacle avoidance. I had a $15 knockoff drone that had it. Of course it wasn't the best but it wouldn't run into a wall.
The over correction the opposite way was the problem.
Bigger camera and battery would be nice but not at the expense of going over 249 grams.

Price will be the biggest factor.
Plenty of choices in the sub $2k area.
Not being backward compatible to the n3 goggles and rcn controllers
Would be a deal breaker!

Happy Saturday (retired)

Everyone wants more for the next name your drone. The Neo is a selfie drone. If you want a drone for some specific activity, get a model which does that thing well. The Neo is an inexpensive beginner model. Nothing more.

The Neo is (also) for us "poor" old folks that can't afford 3 or more drones to fill our recreational flying desires.
😉

Adding features just adds costs and more things to malfunction. DJI already has a wide range of UASs that are very capable of image capture and commercial (?enterprise) uses. Lacks a simple, inexpensive FPV model. The DJI FPV was the closest to a more "pure" immersive FPV platform, but relatively expensive and over the 249gm mass limit without an integrated RID.

As I've posted multiple times. Hope is a sub250gm more powerful "Neo" without all the autonomous modes and ideally user totally removable propeller guards and lower cost relative to the the Avata2 or the old DJI FPV. 11-15 minutes flying hard in M mode would be nice. A possible selling point v. most non-DJI immersive FPV quads that are sub250gm. Might grab some of the Never DJI people like the Avata2 hooked me. I would have never purchased the Neo without already having the hardware to fly it. Might be an issue with the NeverDJIers. The next gen DJI FPV will need to be a real solid product to hook those or like me people prior to Avata2 purchase.

Neo is a nice trainer quad for newbies with DJI's stabilization system. Robust design, quad alone is reasonably priced until you add goggles, controller... Nice quad for those needing and wanting to learn to really fly (aka rate mode, manual mode) Not too many sub $200 quads with digital quality goggle image.

Well, it is more like $600 for all that is needed for Fpv.
Still better than most other ways if toy drones aren't included.
It does allow for flying in almost any way you want to try.
I do wish the goggles n3 would work on more models like the Mini 4 pro. As the goggles 3 are expensive and basically not available now in the USA.
Seems that backward compatible has always been a greed issue with dji.
I probably wouldn't do FPV with the 4 pro but it shouldn't cost $500 or so to do so.

I luv my Neo.

Any brand of FPV is expensive if going digital video. Price of the Goggle3 is competitive with most other digital goggles. Unless going analog you are stuck with a system specific goggle. Where we really get taken advantage of is the price of input controller and the limits of just DJI brand.

IIRC, paid $64 for RadioMaster Pocket. ELRS model. Like even my junky BetaFPV controller there is a standardized bay to plug and more or less play module to allow flying other protocols. Pocket seems to be a more solid built and versatile unit than the DJI FPV RC3 at a fraction of the cost. Uses your choice of 18650 lithium ion batteries. Option to use the built in battery charger or just pack a couple spares. When the battery croaks in the RC3 sourcing a replacement might be a PITA. Gimbal replacement on the RC3 is expensive. Don't cross thread your gimbal sticks or knock them. Strongly recommend just leaving them on and invest in or diy gimbal stick protectors. Another niggle. Limited options without diy adapters for gimbal sticks.

Since I'm complaining. Not something that effects me today. Back compatibility issues of DJI. And just compatibility issues within the DJI lineup. Why has DJI not made all 04 models compatible with all 04 hardware? I sort of understand the limits of some models not being compatible with previous generation hardware. But each generation of systems should be compatible within that gen. If I was a long time DJI user and limited to DJI platforms I would probably be just another one of the "crying, complaining" DJI users.
