Having seen what it can do i was thinking about getting one, they seem cheap enough, but it seems to be aimed more at the outdoor type cyclist walkers etc etc, im more of a get out of my car and fly type person, so not sure if i want one, but its a cheap little thing so may take a gamble with it.

The Neo should still be suitable for what you're looking to do.

Not sure what you mean by the way you fly BUT the NEO is 200 bucks for the "average" buyer. The person that will almost all of the time either use the "mode Buttons" or a Phone to control it (worst thing ever! IMO)
For people like me who take a car full of Drones to the park and enjoy the experience of Flying, The Neo will cost you at least 400 U.S. (Drone\controller) and of course you will want/NEED goggles so double that to 800.
While the 200 dollar price seems like a cheap way to get started (and it is) It still aint gonna be cheap.
SO........Buy a Drone that will fly the way you enjoy flying and not because it is within a certain price range....Otherwise This hobby will only frustrate you and you will give up on one of the coolest most addictive hobbies around! (and most expensive)

If you just want to 'get out of your car and fly' then maybe look at getting either a DJI Mini 4K or Mini 2SE. These drones are not much more than the NEO and come with a controller and a way better camera.

Chris

I was chiefly interested in using the NEO for indoor work in residential real estate. That quickly changed on my first attempt inside my own home. It doesn't do well without a solid GPS signal. However, for the low investment, I have no regrets as my great-granddaughter loves it, and I enjoy aggravating my dog with it.

Sorry should have mentioned I own the Mini 4 Pro, hence i can get out of my car and fly.

I just noticed that I can use my RC2 and my spare RC-N2 controller with the drone, so thats gonna save me some money, still gonna need extra batteries though, do they sell them separate? (UK links please)

I'd advise anyone that's looking at a Neo for the full FPV experience to buy an Avata 2 full kit and add a Neo to it.

I agree. But for me, it was the small size. I can't do FPV due to vertigo.

Does it affect you with a fully stabilized gimbal/view? You can used the goggles and MC with several camera drones too, and if you leave the gimbal set to "follow" then the horizon doesn't tilt all over the place.

Still probably not worth the investment unless you really want to fly FPV.

I thought about that but backed out because I was afraid I would have to just send it back or loss money on the deal. I watch FPV videos and some of them get to me and I have to stop watching them lol

The NEO got me interested in a number of different ways to fly a drone than what I am used to and part of that was FPV, but the high cost just to get into the game put me off.

I tried flying my Tello FPV the other day and it was pretty cool even for that tiny drone, but I found myself getting dizzy at some points and had to lift up the goggles (box style with phone insert) to make the dizziness go away.

Unfortunately that is a common problem, people try with unsuitable gear and have a poor experience, then think it'll be the same with stuff actually made for it.

The latency and stutteryness something like this results in totally will make you sick, but when you get a buttersmooth low latency 60-120fps feed it's a whole other ballgame.
Similar to the issues with DJI's in-goggles simulator that was known for making even regular FPV flyers who never had an issue sick.

I wouldn’t say it was a poor experience for me. It made me more interested in FPV. The dizziness didn’t last long. If I got a NEO, using it for FPV would be an occasional thing.

It is unfortunate that the cost of suitable FPV gear is so cost prohibitive making those of us who want to try it having to resort to unsuitable equipment.

Proper FPV equipment like the Avata 2 might be a better experience but here in Canada to use it legally I would need a spotter with me all the time. I never have a spotter with me when I fly a drone. Sometimes my family is with me but they are not there to help me fly my drone.

Chris

NOBODY likes goggles when they first start to use them and it took me a bit to get used to them. Heres the thing..If you stop using them completely because you start feeling sick then your body will never adjust.
FPV requires you to use muscles in you eyes that you have never used. It takes some time. If you start feeling sick STOP and take a break-- BUT Get back in those goggles fast!!!! That feeling will go away as soon as you are used to this new world.
I think this is the number one reason people give up.
It takes time...Some only a few times...Others weeks to months it all depends.
Cheap equipment will only add to the frustration. I have a little box of Tellos My friends and I race them line of site. Great fun! I tried goggles one time with the Tello.... Worst FPV ever! lol It just felt like someone crammed a very laggy video in my face.
Trying with stuff like that-- I could see how that would want you to give up on the Idea.

@Cafguy, I don’t want to give up, just the opposite. I found flying FPV with Tello fun and will do it again when weather is suitable.

Chris

Great to hear!! The more FPVers the Better!! DO you have a SIM?

No I don’t have a SIM. From what I understand you need an FPV controller to use one. Is that correct.

Don't get into SCUBA diving. The equipment costs are bad enough, but then there are those absolutely mandatory visits to exotic tropical locations... 😉

Some suggestions for new people adapting: First and foremost, sit in a chair. Do not fly from a screen for a flight with your camera drone and then switch to FPV... take a break, have your eyes and brain process the normal world visually. Don't be hungry. No alcohol, of course.

Others, please add your recommendations...
