Thanks!
There were two teens there, a boy and girl. To her credit she was wearing a helmet and I was very happy to see that. He was teaching her how to safely learn to skate board.
Definitely a hobby for the young.
I know, looking back and wondering what the heck was I thinking doing that, it was so dangerous. But then young people haven't been around long enough to have those life experiences yet.
I had a dirt bike for a short time (before I was married) running thru one of those tracks you're talking about for motorcycles a few times. You couldn't get me on a pair of skates now and I use to skate every Sat. night as a kid.
Just goes to prove "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger ".
If I knew then what I've already forgot twice, I would've taken more pics & videos.
Like the time going down a steap hill and falling off my bicycle and sliding (on my face). I was carried back home by a teenager. Both of us were covered in blood.
I think I was about 9 years old.
Six weeks later I was back on the bike. No fear!
We use to ride sleds down insanely steep streets and hills in the wintertime. I did what you described once myself when I was in the 4th or 5th grade but it was with flat plastic board you laid down on like a sled and it had a steering handle with steel roller wheels. Man it was fast. In my case I hit a manhole cover sticking up out of the alley. It made a bloody mess of my arm and leg. Like you said good times!!
