Neo 2?

This is going to be good.

Check out the NEO 2 listings on eBay.

Strike that, not much listing yet; my eBay search is broken.

Wait or buy now?

Looks like the competition is trying to get out ahead of the NEO 2 launch early. This is one of the risks of a tier launch when you show your hand. Basically if you buy one of these, you'll likely not buy a DJI.

Now people have to make up their mind, buy drone on sale or wait for a different drone that might not ever show.

Got the same notification here in Canada.

not interested in buying. for fpv the old one is a better option. the top, bottom and lidar sensors, the 2 axis gimbal and the attachable, screw on o4 modules are not good friends with crashes, so I don´t know if manual mode will ever be available.

Me too, unless there are huge increases in camera quality and features which at this time there doesn’t seem to be.

Also, there has been no talk about direction track, a feature that is important to me. Maybe the new obstacle avoidance takes care of that but there is nothing mentioned about it.

I was i nterested in this drone, but didn´t consider buying it, have enough droones and won´t buy any in the near future. I´m actually very satisfied with my neo. After removing all the unwanted prop guards and with these 3 blade props it flies awesome and have 9-11 mins flight time in manual mode using 1080/50 and stock camera settings and in fcc mode. It has 430 km in it without issues. For me it´s fine. If I want stronger drone, there´s the A2...

I too love the current NEO. Sure I’d love better camera quality and especially more camera control and features with the phone only control. Even the NEO 2 doesn’t appear to have these features.

There´s actually M mode in it.

I have heard our friendly eBay sellers in South Korea and Japan will be selling the NEO 2 as soon as it is available to them. This helps to insure a quick and reliable delivery process into the US at a decent price. Hopefully all package configurations are available as well as accessories.

I don't think we have much to worry about in terms of tariffs if the system works itself out in the next few weeks. ;)

I will buy one because it's likely the last DJI drone model we'll be able to buy legally in the US.

Just curious, was there an announcement notification made for the 13th in the US?

I don't think so, I haven't heard. As you know, we won't be getting the NEO 2 here in the US so technically our launch day is whenever the other countries in Asia (outside of China) start getting their drones and we can order from them.

I do keep hearing an 18th date for N.A. but it's just a rumor.

A few thoughts about the YouTube review I posted in post #95.

It seems that although the 1/2 inch sensor on the NEO 2 is the same as the one on the NEO 1, there are improvements in camera quality but what I am disappointed in is that there doesn't seem to be any additional improvements in setting choices like being able to choose RAW instead of JPEG, being able to adjust ISO, and shutter speed when using the phone only, and having more auto photo options AEB and panorama shooting.

There are obvious improvements in obstacle avoidance and the old Direction Track seems to be replaced by the new Active Track that is available on DJIs more advanced drones where you can choose the position the drone will track you from and how far away it tracks. The video seems to suggest that this works reasonably well. When following in a difficult environment like a forest trail with lots of branches and obstacles, the NEO 2 seems to behave similar to DJIs other more advanced drones that have omni-directional obstacle avoidance - it follows quite well but cuts corners and gets hung up when it tries to avoid obstacles and runs into another one. I think the NEO 1's AI tracking works better in this situation as it follows the path you bike or walk through the difficult environment and works well at avoiding most obstacles.
