2 NEO's with 2 controlers...

Thanks Kilrah, for a friend of mine and I tried to fly our NEO's together and his went crazy. We were thinking they got some interference from each other and were leery to try it again. We'll be trying it again today. :)

Each Neo is "linked" to a specific controller. If using Goggle3 or N3 the link is with the goggles. Your actual tx/rx. Were you using a smart phone as a controller or RC2?

When I purchased the 2nd backup Neo I thought it would automatically after linking with the Goggle3 back and forth with Neo#1. No go. When selecting quad in the goggle menu there is only one Neo listed. The one last linked. Have to re link the previous Neo. Just a backup for after I trash, crash Neo#1. So no big deal.

When switching "controllers". That is from FPV RC3 to MC3. The system automatically switches. Only connects to the first one powered up even if you turn on the other.

If using Goggle3 and probably N3 there is an option in the Menu to switch from auto to a specific channel. If you and your friend are still having issues. Select manual and different channels. Auto supposedly switches frequencies for the strongest signals. Neo at least relative to the Avata2 flown has limited range and signal penetration. Realistically a true LOS UAS. Signal drop can happen fast. Both RX and VX. Changes in conditions such as dense foliage v. bare trees or obstructions can significantly effect the Neo's ability to maintain a solid connection. Something to consider if switching to manual channel selection. Make sure your RTH parameters are set to avoid RTH into an obstruction.

Hi NeoNeo, appreciate your detailed reply. You asked "Were you using a smart phone as a controller or RC2" and to be honest I cannot rember but we were using either the DJI RC-N3 Remote Controller or the Goggles 3 and RCMotion3. My friend may have been using the RC 2 controller.

You said "when using Goggle3 and probably N3 there is an option in the Menu to switch from auto to a specific channel" which I didnt know. I'm going to tell my friend too. Good info for sure.

So thanks again, we will try your suggestions and use your information.

We went out today and didnt have any problems. I did notice a message in my googles that said "interference detected" when he flew hid Avata over me, but I had no loss of control of the drone.

We were also thinking maybe he didn't have enough satellites before taking off because his drone went crazy as soon as he took off.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions. There really appreciated!

The Neo's GPS module is probably of a lower quality or poorly positioned. Flew the Neo a couple days ago using the FPV RC3. Just up and down the driveway, around the immediate yard, and one pop up above the tree line directly over the immediate yard to take a peak. Tree canopy over the driveway is thick enough to shadow it from sunlight. Only made it ~200 meters down to the mailbox before video reception when from fine to yellow to digital camo in a moment. Normally when trees are leaf free I can just make it to the mailbox. Another 50-70 meters. A few curves. So no direct line of sight to the mailbox. Flying in S mode. Knew would lose video signal at a certain distance from launch pad. I crash in M mode when visual cues get sketchy. And once again satellites went Red to none. Red Warning osd banner. No loss of control. Just no GPS positioning. Like flying indoors with adequate ambient light.

Never had a Neo or Avata2 go crazy with zero satellites locked. At times my impatience with the Neo's slow satellite acquisition has me taking off before Neo has had time to set Home position. Usually VLOS platform. So no big deal that Home is not really Home when the Neo finally acquires enough satellites. IIRC, Neo needs double digit satellite acquisition to set Home position.

Sometimes NEOs just "go crazy," unfortunately, usually happens when there is a low number of satellites locked in and it's not light enough out, or you're over ground that is not ideal (water or snow or something) ... could be just bad luck for one of you.

Glad to here you never had a drone go crazy. Im hoping I never have one either. Your thinking that the NEO needs double digit satellites to set home position makes sense. I never heard it put that way, and it got me thinking. I will have to keep an eye on that.

When you said "video reception went from fine to yellow to digital camo in a moment" perked my curiosity. I knew something like that happens but never noticed the color changes. Another thing to look for.

Thanks again, I'm learning alot!

Hi Spacewizard, go crazy it did. Bad luck for both of us I beleive, for my friend who's drone crashed, and for me whom it almost crashed into. Scared both of us! We're going to definately keep an eye on having enough satellites.

Thanks for your input, it's much appreciated!
