OP, if you really get into immersive flying consider the FPV RC3. The MC3 is very "intuitive", but a bit sluggish and limited angle of attack. If needing steep angle of ascent or descent into a relatively tight opening found out the hard way it is best to just use the joy stick button and pitch the camera angle in the direction of travel. Makes for a choppy maneuver, but reduces the chance of a collision. Outside no Manual mode, the primary reason the MC3 stays cased. RC3 in N and S modes allows for smoother, more precise, and quicker if needed maneuvering.
Bit overpriced controller for what you get, but no other option for manual mode flying with DJI 04 quads. JMHO, $99 would have been closer to real value based on the Txs (Futaba,RadioMaster,Spektrum, Taranis models) purchased over the years in terms of features, construction, durability, diy repair and maintenance. RC3 is basically a throw away quad once out of warranty and broken.
Flying manual mode I'm not concerned with the sometimes drop into the Red. DJI stabilization is off. If flying N or S mode. Become a bit nervous. Still unsure how low if any satellites have to be locked for the Neo stabilization system to function. I know for sure if the downward IR sensors are not functioning due to the nature of the surface or too low light the Neo goes bonkers and does it own thing.
On the Neo wish list to DJI. Option to shut off stabilization when flying N or S modes. So called DJI ATTI mode. For everyone else more or less "angle" mode. Angle mode is a good training mode to learn throttle modulation before trying to fly manual mode. Reduces one variable to "think" about when first learning to fly manual (aka rate mode).
