Hi!

I'd like to test images from DJI/Neo drones with some open source software I'm working on.

Love the images I see here but most if not all look like they've been modified with various software packages.

I'd love if you all would share some unmodified neo images that include their metadata so I can test my software against them.

(Share via your preferred cloud storage)

Thank you,

Bobby

Thank you! I notice that the Gimball roll, yaw, pitch are all set to 0 but the flight is not. Does the gimbal not move independently on the Neo?
Only way to change the gimbal pitch when flying is using the DJI FPV RC3 controller "gimbal" roller switch. Other wise it is locked to whatever you have set it before launching. I'm just an immersive flier. Rarely have looked at video that the Neo or Avata2 have captured. Did note that the Neo after landing in N or S mode self resets the gimbal to zero degrees. Bit irritating needing to reset desired angle of view. Don't remember if it resets when flying Manual mode. I am land on the landing pad in M mode impaired. I usually have to come in like landing on an aircraft carrier. Miss the "hook" and end up anywhere but the pad. So I gave up. Use N or S mode to land.

Here's one I posted earlier on the forum. If you need it zipped let me know.

Interesting. Since our software is looking at the GimbalPitch and GimbalYaw values in the metadata (among other params), I'll need to figure out how to determine what the effective gimbal pitch and yaw is factoring in the flight gimbal pitch/yaw values. Thanks,
Bobby

The gimbal is single-axis, vertical. So gimbal pitch and roll values are the aircraft pitch/roll values.

The gimbal angle is captured in the log data... Is that captured in embedded metadata in the image? Further considerations are the gimbal tilt will be dynamic and varying when flying in the following modes: Autonomous selfie quickshots; following; flying with the Motion Controller.

This affects mostly video. However, the custom Spotlight mode tracks the subject from a hover, and snaps stills when triggered. The gimbal tilt is dynamic in this situation too.

Finally, the image pipeline applies image stabilization in several different shooting situations, similar to the Avatas but different in subtle ways. So pitch/roll/tilt data may not match what the imagery shows.

Super curious what this open source software does!
I can't post links but hopefully just the name of it and then you can go find it. OpenAthena for android and ios uses the metadata inside drone images to geolocate objects/pixels in the image.

You know, I want to try this but I have so few unscripted, not-turned-into-panorama images lying around! I tend to do stuff with the stone photos I keep.
