Drone not detected on laptop

Hello all. I’m really happy that this community is so responsive. Thanks so much for all the help.
Anyway, i spoke to a couple of technicians. Turns out, the IC of the USB could be the culprit. I’ll know for sure by next week. Shall update you all once i get confirmation

So many bench techs I've met that can't work a soldering iron.
I would not let them mess with the ic chips.
First suspect would be the connector or cable.
Charging only takes 2 pins and data takes the other 2.

I would let DJI do the repairs.
Not being in the US at least you can get it back from them.
I've heard DJI is very reasonable in repair cost.

Watch out using 3rd party repair.

Cheers,

I even reached out to DJI and their official support guy was the first to point out that it is a problem with IC. Unfortunately DJI is not officially present in India. So I’ll have to ship it to HongKong which may cost me half the price of the drone. We have some well known repair guys in India. I’ll have to take it to one of them.

Ok folks. Issue resolved. Pls don’t curse me after reading this 🙂

So, I took it to a done repair guy. When he connected it to this laptop, it got detected. We even watched some of the recorded clips. So it was confirmed there is nothing wrong with the drone. Came back home and connected 4th computer with a different cable and it worked there as well. After some permutations and combinations, i finally understood that all the 3 cables i used earlier were the ones which were not able to handle the data transfer. This fourth cable, thankfully, is able to. I know some of you pointed this out but i dismissed it thinking i have already tried 3 cables.

Important - The drone ‘NEED NOT’ be powered for data transfer via cable.

I am really grateful to you all for taking your time out to help me out and being so patient with me. Thanks once again 🙏

You aren’t the first, and won't be the last, to conflate a charging cable with a data cable. Glad you got it sorted, and label those charging cables, so they are not confused with data cables in the future, by anyone else needing a data cable that looks the same.

Yup. Thats the first thing I did. Also, is there any way to determine which is a charging cable and which one is data cable?

All my cables are data cables. I just couldn´t imagine anybody has charging only cables... If I buy something cheap on aliexpress and comes with a cable, goes to the garbage immediately, because I have enough cables at home.

glad now works

Connect your drone to the laptop. If it shows up in the file explorer, data cable, if charges only, charging cable.
