Neo could simulate manual mode (banking) footage in Sport mode due to gimbal tilt, but I can't find how to do it with Neo 2. What am I missing?

I have a very specific question. I love flying the Neo in FPV Sport mode with Goggles N3 and FPV RC 3. The single-axis gimbal gives me wonderful banking footage through turns without the need to try and fly in Manual mode. I now have a Neo 2 and unfortunately I can't find a way to fly in the mode I mentioned above. I see that I can use "FPV mode" using the RC2, but that means no goggles, which I find critical to avoiding hard-to-see obstacles. Is there a solution or did I lose my favorite flight mode with the Neo 2?

I don´t have Neo2, just 1 and Avata2, so it can be wrong, what i write, but my guess is, that you have to turn off or use only rock steady image stabilization in the goggles.

Thanks. I wish that were true but it isn't. I tried Rocksteady on and off and while it does change the video slightly, it does not introduce banking while turning, which is all that "FPV Mode" does on the hover drones. I think my only real option is an Avata 2.

The only way I've found it is if you connect through a controller. Then you're given additional settings, one for "Follow Mode" or "FPV Mode". You want FPV mode.

This is what I found (NOTE I have not tried these settings, it's almost 2 AM here):
To get that banking look back on your DJI Neo 2, you’ll need to switch the gimbal from its default "Follow" mode to "FPV" mode. Because you have the 2-axis gimbal now, this setting is the only way to tell the drone to stop leveling the horizon and start leaning into the turns.

Here is the exact path in the DJI Fly app (assuming you are using the RC-N3 controller or flying via smartphone):

The Menu Path

  1. Power on your Neo 2 and the controller, then open the DJI Fly app.
  2. Tap Go Fly to enter the camera view.
  3. Tap the three dots (...) in the top right corner to open the Settings.
  4. Go to the Control tab (the icon looks like a small remote).
  5. Scroll down to the Gimbal section.
  6. Under Gimbal Mode, select FPV Mode.

How to set FPV as the "Custom" Default

To make sure your palm-launched flights have that banking look without needing to pull out your phone every time:

  1. Connect to DJI Fly: Turn on the drone and connect it to your smartphone via the DJI Fly app.
  2. Access Custom Settings: Tap the three dots (...) -> Control -> scroll to the bottom to Custom Mode.
  3. Choose your "Banking" Mode: You can assign a specific flight (like DirectionTrack or Helix) to the Custom slot.
  4. Lock the Gimbal Mode: While still in the Control tab, ensure Gimbal Mode is set to FPV.
  5. Sync to Drone: These settings are saved to the drone's internal "Custom" profile.
Now, when you are out in the field without your phone:

  • Use the Mode button on the drone to cycle through the options on the built-in screen until you reach Custom.
  • When you palm-launch from the Custom setting, the Neo 2 will use the FPV gimbal behavior you saved, giving you those banking shots automatically.

Important "Palm Control" Reality Check

While you can save the FPV setting to the Custom slot, the standard "Follow" mode (the one that just tracks you as you walk) usually reverts to a level horizon by default for safety and "cinematic" stability. If you want a banking look while it follows you, DirectionTrack (set in the Custom slot with FPV gimbal mode) is your best workaround.
