25cm of Lake Effect yesterday. For the past ~1-2weeks only snow remaining have been nooks on the N facing slopes. All white again. Except for the deep blue of the open waters of L. Superior. The good is no forest fire risk. We need snow-covered ground through March and hope for April rains to reduce the risk of forest fires.
Township plow truck left a bank around the mailbox. Shove it and the bank blocking my driveway. No plan to clear yesterday's snow. +2C at 0900 with the warmth of the radiant heat of the sun rapidly melting the snow. Forecast is for another front dropping 15-30cm tomorrow through Wednesday. Typical Northwoods Spring. Beats the "good old days" of the occasional early May blizzard. Been decades since the last May dump. Could still happen, but doubt it. L. Superior surface and deep water temps have been rising for the past few decades. Bit more dramatic increases in the past couple decades. Why we now have 4 seasons instead of 3.
Tempted to fly this AM, but seeing conditions for solar observation were real nice. Plus crashing Neo into the new snow makes finding a bit of a chore. Cleared a spot and set up the solar telescope.
Hit almost 10C/50F on Monday and ~5C/40F on Tuesday. Just a trace of snow left. Until this AM. Fresh 3cm of coverage. Then freezing sleet morphing into heavy snowfall. Heavy as in like Sierra Cement. As of 1700 CDT about 10cm with gale force gust. I removed the snowblower from the tractor yesterday. Hope for similar Sunday through Tuesday conditions again. Probably need to use the back blade floated a few cm above the surface if the 30cm shows up. Driveway is soft from the Spring thaw.
Definitely not a fly Neo outdoors day. Bit too under lighted by natural light for risking an indoors session.
