Exploring the limits of the NEO

Today I flew my NEO over our local frozen lake. My watch said the temperature was -10ºC and AirData said the temperature was -12ºC for the flight. This time I did NOT get the 'Preparing to Takeoff: IMU warming up' error that I often get when I fly in temperatures that are below -10ºC.

I may try a suggestion by user slup over at MavicPilots who is one of the experts in log analysis to calibrate the IMU in cold temperatures similar to what I have to do with my old P3S. I had never thought of doing this before since all of my newer drones (Mavic 3 Pro and Mini 3 Pro) have never given me problems in sub -10ºC temperatures.

The lows for the next few days are well below -10ºC so it will be a good opportunity to do the IMU calibration and test.

Did the high wind warning box flash on? Not too bad.
Using your Mini 3 Tx? Is cruise control a feature of your Tx.

First attempt to fly the Neo in M mode in wind was sad. Bouncing, fluttering around. Required more stick skill and time getting a feel for the Neo. Horizon line was basically never level even when under "control".

If you are referring to the video I posted in post #20, yes I got multiple high wind warnings. I was using the RC-N3 controller and my iPhone to fly the NEO. I do wish I could use my RC controller that I often use with my Mini 3 Pro to fly the NEO. I wish there was some kind of hack that could be done to make it compatible or that DJI would just release a firmware update. I do realize that the RC1 is Ocusync 3 whereas the RC-N3 is OC4 and that the NEO is OC 4.

I have been testing the limits of the NEO but at the same time it also brings out the limits of using a cell phone that I am aware of from flying my Phantom 3. In cold weather similar to hot weather, my phone will dim to save the battery and if I continue using it, it will completely shut off. This has happened to me in the past with my P3S which is why in the winter I try to always keep my flights short and within VLOS especially when flying with a phone.
