Do you ever fly using your phone?

Just to keep from carrying a controller and if so what kind of range did you get? I read where it says someting like 40 ft but that dosn’t seem like much. Also does it stop and hover at it’s limit since it won’t have RTH option when using the phone? I’d rather not have a fly a way trying to test this part of it. Anyone?

I frequently use my phone for Direction Track when biking, skiing etc. I use Active Track (iPhone plus N3 controller) when the drone is following me since the video quality is better. I always have my N3 controller with me as it’s small and light.

When I first got the NEO I tried using just phone control for manual flying and found it very limited - range was something like 30m and anything beyond that, I kept getting frequent disconnects.

I’ve taken up walking several miles a day with my neo in tow with six batteries, but I’d like to carry my RC2 as well, I’ve tried a workaround lately using a water bottle holder but it’s limiting, so I purchased a backpack for 21 dollars. I haven’t received it yet but I’m hoping I like it.

I tried the RC2 controller with my NEO but I found it to be overkill and too big and bulky. I prefer the RC-N3 controller and my iPhone. For walking and biking. For biking, I have a handlebar mount to hold the N3 controller which works great. I also have a phone holder (portrait orientation) for when I am using Direction Track - works great.
