Been flying my Neo for a while now and must say I really like , in fact it is now my No 1 travel drone and I tend to take it with my in my day sack pretty much anywhere I go, car, ebike, etc etc. Small lightweight but more importantly unobtrusive It has a very small signature and tends not to attract attention particularly when you are flying in an area where you are unsure of local byelaw restrictions on drones etc etc . I have several other drones, my original Mavic Mini, Mavic Mini 2 , and my beloved Parrot Anafi which for reasons I can discuss elsewhere is still prob my favourite drone - apart now for NEO that is. The main advantage of NEO to me however is when you use it in ' auto self fly mode' You don't need to mess around with pairing with the controller , looking for sats or linking to your phone. When you get an ' opportunity target' say when you are out and about on your bike you just pull it out of your back pack , select the quick shot mode you want and literally throw it up. Recovery is almost as easy as when it's done it's stuff it just flies right back to your hand - well - usually! So having used it now for a while what would I tweak. Well firstly and most importantly in circle mode I would add the option to ' circle high' . At the moment while you can set the distance of the 'circle' there is no way to set the height as in most other modes ie high , medium, low. Currently in circle NEO will only fly around you at a set level height , usually just below head height and parallel with you chest. This to me is a serious safety flaw as if using in a crowded place, park etc , as without any obstacle avoidance sensors it will just continue on it's way and fly into any other persons who.might happen to get in it's way. In nearly all other modes , follow, object track etc I usually set it to ' follow high' which ensures it stays well above head height of any other unsuspecting person who might stray into it's path. The second fix I would like is as regards 'rocket ' mode. Again I use this a lot for quick shots while travelling as you can easily chuck it up while in a historic market square , on the top.of Snowdon, ski slope etc etc. Prob is all you currently get is a spectacular rising and falling zoom effect of you and your group and the ground immediately below you and the drone. Rocket would be a really great mode if you had the option of say ' rocket panorama ' or rocket rotate where by at the apex of its climb NEO would elevate the camera to parallel and then rotate say twice adjusting the camera angle on its way down. This would give you a superb quick shot and panoramic effect of both you and your surrounds. I have a couple more if anyone is interested but the two improvements to circle and rocket would I believe seriously improve both the utility and safety of my NEO use . If anyone has a view would love to discuss. Mark

Great ideas. The Circle High would be great. I have crashed into more unexpected things than I'd like to admit in the current Circle Mode.

Both should be very easy software fix - any ideas how we draw to the attention of the DJI software team? The other fix I would like is that there are times when Neo doesn't seem to realise you want it to come to you to land. Some sort of hand signal like the bunny rabbit thing you use when you want it to shoot a selfie. A raised hand sort of Roman salute would be ideal - but.not an Elon Musk ! 😁👎

I’d want a mode where instead of the drone following you from behind it would be in front of you, and the drone could face you as you move forward

The Neo already has that. It is called Track Me. It follows you in front looking back at you.
Yep Track me is good but what a shame you only have this option when flying with the controller . Why can't they add this feature when flying with the phone? Personally the advantage of NEO over my other DJI drones is that it is lightweight and portable and you can take it with you pretty much anywhere and throw it up in an instant when an opportunity presents. IMHO this advantage is negated when you have to mess around with a somewhat bulky controller and go through the fiddly procedure of attaching to your phone . To add Track Me to phone only control mode or indeed drone only autonomous mode should be an easy fix for DJI as in any event Track Me only allows a max of 30 metres from the subject and the phones inbuilt WiFi should be good for 100 metres or so , When I first got my NEO DJI seemed to be sending out software updates pretty much every time you turned it on, some of which were quiet exciting like full screen phone capability when flying in manual mode but as if late all this seems to have stopped. Still really want the option to select high for circle mode and just don't understand why they can't add it, all other modes such as Follow allow High, Medium, Low , all except Circle that is. Having NEO circle you at head hight can be a real menace when flying in a crowded environment such as a park.

These suggestions can be sent directly to DJI, who will analyze the feasibility for implementation in a future update. Use the email:

Many thanks was going to make a separate post about how to contact DJI developers direct. I was fortunate to be one of the first in the UK to be offered the NEO , in fact DJI contacted me out of the blue and offered me an early release model at a very generous discount too. When it first came out you were getting a firmware update pretty much every time you turned it on but understandably that now seems to have slowed. Of all the fixes being able to select ' high' in ' circle' like in pretty much all other modes, 'droney' etc would be the first to get my vote and as it is available in all others should be an easy fix.
