DJI Goggles N3

In that case I might consider the goggles N3 and motion controller 3 if the price is around what rumours peg it as.

One thing I am wondering, can you take photos in addition to video when flying FPV and can you access camera settings similar to a regular controller like the RC-N3?

Chris
I just think, not sure, the fpv mode is not about taking photos or digging in the video settings. If the customizable buttons on the controller allow these options, maybe yes. The Avata / Avata 2 owners know it better, what is possible, since fpv is about continous flight and all the settings should be done on the goggles.

For me would be enough just the option to be able to turn off image stabilization at least in sport mode and / or fixing the gimball. I already posted this on the dji forum. Let's see what they answer, as many people requested this (this option was available when I had the Spark and the mini).

My DJI FPV is set to start recording when it takes off I usually record my flights. The goggles usually will of course record what you see from the goggles lol with telemetry or without, BUT usually at a lower resolution than from the Drone.

It will be the case with this too. Either recording vids or screen recording.

Good information.

I actually found something hack. This is however an older video and I'm not sure, that it will work.

I'm afraid, it won't be compatible with the rc-n3. Just with the FPV controller 3 or motion controller 3. I think the Goggles N3 is just a cheaper version of the Goggles 3, which isn't compatible with regular photo drone radios. Unfortunately the N series controllers don't even have wired mode, so isn't compatible with the dji simulator either.
What is special about the RC3 controller ?

What I meant to say, is what does the RC-N3 not have that the RC3 does have that makes it work the the goggles.
One difference is the FPV RC3 can have the throttle spring disabled for manual mode.

With the RC-N3 the remote connects directly to the aircraft, however with the Goggles 3 it's the goggles that connect to the aircraft and the FPV RC 3 connects to the goggles, different paradigms for both modes of operation...

Technically it may or may not be possible to have a remote work in both modes but DJI have always kept those 2 product lines separate so far, if you use goggles you need the FPV RC (or MC).

Thanks, I understand now.

You can with the Goggles 3 and the Neo.

This seems to me to be such a basic feature (photos) that it would be insane to leave it out. It would have to be deliberate. I just don't see that happening.

Compared to goggles 3 the most likely "cost savings" will be removing the external cameras, the diopter adjustment, maybe the integrated battery, SD card slot some other stuff. Basically Integra without the battery.

And no support for more expensive drones like the Avatas and camera drones.

On both Avatas, full camera settings including manual mode, just like the fully stabilized camera cousins.

On the Neo with goggles 3 similar, including manual. There's one or two camera parameters that can't be adjusted on the Neo IIRC (which I may not 😁), but it's the same as on the RC2 or RC-N1.

Hmmm... I don't think I'm seeing stabilized live feed or recorded, and I think the recorded video should be stabilized.

Going to test shortly.

Thanks! That’s good to know. Yesterday when I was flying low through the forest and taking videos and photos I thought having a cheap set of FPV goggles to do this would be great and maybe I wouldn’t have bumped into a tree head on (was slow so it just bounced back).

Well, you will keep falling down and bumping into trees walking through the forest with goggles on 🤣🤣🤣

j/k, of course 😁

The standalone mode and the RC N3 turns on EIS at all times. This is why very annoying to fly this drone with dronemask. Similar to the Tello, but the Tello has active EIS only in normal mode. In sport mode not, this means, to fly is more FPV-like and full pixel, because of it. So, if I wanna fly like it was an FPV drone, I need the Tello.....

I like this chanel.

Looks like, it will be 270€ and 300$. I'm not interesred in motion controller at all, so another 200€ for the FPV Controller. I consider selling the Neo and say goodbye to dji. Either the walksnail goggles or a analogue fat shark and will fly regular fpv. For almost 800€ I get a low end drone a basic dji goggles and a remote, that not compatible outside dji. 😕
