    Neo 2?

Everyone wants more for the next name your drone. The Neo is a selfie drone. If you want a drone for some specific activity, get a model which does that thing well. The Neo is an inexpensive beginner model. Nothing more.

    Wearable microphone

I use the adapter shown below. Plug it I to the USB jack in the front of the RC 2 controller. Pair a Bluetooth microphone with the adapter. When recording the controller screen, audio from the adapter is included in the controller screen video.

    Software upgrades I would like

The Neo already has that. It is called Track Me. It follows you in front looking back at you.

Thanks to Zolly, I solved the RC-N3 battery drain

You don't need this for iPhone. It can turn off the phone charging the controller in the settings.

    Flying with others

My RC2 controller defaults to Dual-band frequency and 40MHz bandwidth. Even if I change those, every time I restart the Neo it defaults back to those settings. With those settings it pretty much uses 5.8 GHz and only has 3 bands to frequency hope on. I was at a club field during a drone race...

    Pushing through the 120m altitude

As you probably know, in the United States the max legal altitude is 400 feet. 120 meters is just under 394 feet. I assume that is why DJI limits it. I do wish companies would not pretend to be my nanny. I don't mind if they warn me I am about to break the law but, don't stop me if I want to. I...

    Switching to an RC 2

I used a soldering iron to melt small holes through the plastic wing where the thumbscrews hold the protective cover on. Between the cover mount and the thumbscrews the eyelet is quite strongly attached to the controller.

    Altitude stick change.

A helicopter has a cyclic (pitch and elevator), collective (altitude and throttle) and rudder pedals (yaw). The Neo equivalent ( with the default configuration ) is right stick cyclic. Left stick collective and rudder. On a helicopter, pushing the cyclic increases forward speed. Eventually...

    Switching to an RC 2

I like having a neckstrap. I did not like the options out there. I found these and got some: I attached it to my RC-2 and connected my neckstrap as such: This works just the way I want.

    Wearable microphone

Your phone is the key. Connect the lav mic to your phone and verify it is working. I don't know how you do that. If it is Bluetooth, add it as a Bluetooth device. If it is USB, plug it into the phones charging port. Note, I have read not all phones support that. If the lav mic is analog, plug...

    Switching to an RC 2

Back from my road trip and RC 2 was waiting for me. Got it updated and setup. Did a quick flight. It is so much nicer that the RC-N3+phone combo. Wish I had started with this setup in the first place.

    Switching to an RC 2

The phone I am using for my RD-N3 is screwing up. Rather than spend money fixing or replacing that phone, I decided to switch to the RC 2 controller. I am on the road until early May but, I ordered the controller now in case the tariffs spike the price. Hoping the phone will hold out until I get...

On the road in Sin City

Fellow Neo-phites, I had some business to deal with in Las Vegas. Mi Lady and I decided to drive out from the Mid Atlantic and see some of the USA along the way. Most of our stops have been and, will continue to be, National Parks--which as you may know do not permit drone flying of any kind (...

Ba Ba Bluetooth is causing my problem

Today I had massive trouble getting my RC-N3 controller and Samsung phone to connect. Some of you may remember my post about a custom USB cable I use between the controller and phone. I naturally assumed it must be my cable. I have the DJI original cable with me so I connected it. Still the...
