Hi all.

Looking for some confirmation on behavior I'm seeing.

Using Neo with the Goggles N3 and FPV Controller 3 in manual mode. Ati option also off in settings.

When I start the motor and drone is just sitting on ground, if I physically touch it a bit by pushing down or tilt it, the motors automatically spin up as if trying to resist. Similar if it bumps on the ground as just taking off the motors would accelerate.

Throttle is at 0 on the controller whole time.

I know Neo has its share of issues and was under impressions with full manual it wouldn't try to react. I've done IMU calibration as well.

Thanks all.

Normal. The drone tries to level itself

So even in manual though? I thought that meant I have to do all leveling.
I think all dji drones do this when moving motors armed, without stick input.

It does not try to stay level, but it does counter the movement. Couldn't fly at all otherwise, every multicopter does this.
Some intentionally disable the PIDs when throttle is zero but then that has drawbacks, can't bring throttle to 0 in flight. Betaflight for example has Air Mode that you can enable once in flight to keep the PIDs active at zero throttle while leaving it off on the ground.

DJI just decided to have "Air mode" always active in manual mode. Makes sense as there are other modes you can use for take off and landing. IMO you should simply never take off/land DJI aircraft in manual mode., best way to get bounces/flips and damage things for no good reason.

Yes, counteract is a better term.
There's no problem with take off in manual mode, if you understand what ground effect is. (That causes bouncing) I give a little more throttle to overcome ground effect and then, pitch forward.
