Just in from a 6 battery session. Mix of S and M mode flying on the home property.
VTX on the Neo is wimpy. Known since day one. Just one of the limits. It is an inexpensive quad. The but... The few times I went into Video yellow/red zone I noticed that I had full bars for the RC. Real imbalance between the range of the RC and video transmission. A few days ago I was actually flying blind for awhile. ~100 meters from the house hooked a left up the next section of trail. Tree density and distance was enough to go from fine to blind in a moment. The digital break up made for just a blurry goggle image. Not fun.
I really dislike the very limited range you can fly manual mode before Neo auto switches to N mode and flashes the red banner "combination of too far and high blah ..." Nothing to do with quality of radio or video signal. A hard limit based on a combination of distance and altitude. Too windy above the tree line to enjoy flying in S mode. Bit of a pita when it switches to N mode back to M mode once you drop low and/or close enough. Takes forever in bouncy winds. It's like the Neo is having a slow time to process the procedure due to the stabilization system fighting the buffeting winds. I think I have the manual fly zone figured out. It is more or less a 100 meter dome. Once it auto switched at ~80 meters altitude, but ~90 meters distance from Home.
Once again the Neo survived a couple crashes with only skid marks. My over rotation inside loops saved Neo today. Bit of a pucker moment seeing nothing but tree tops fill your field of view. Tough and fun little quad. Even with all the buts...
