Neo and the RC2

sounds like you got a lemon. With the amount of units that are produced, its bound to happen. Not that this makes you feel any better. I hope your next one will work as flawlessly as it seems to be working with most people. 🤞
Yeah, I think I’ll tell DJI to replace it, after all that time trying to get it paired I just got overly frustrated and “I want my money back” attitude set in. All my other DJI drones were plug & play, no problems setup, activating, first flight, etc. This one was difficult to activate, as I was expecting it to setup and run like the other DJI I have. Took a while to finally grab the iPhone and give it a try. iPhone controller speed was a fast walk pace, nothing more.

The DJI tech had me check and see if it would pair to my air 3 and it did immediately. I think it’s a software issue, tech wanted me to access DJI assist 2 using a computer, I don’t have a pc.
So you are using a MAC?? If so that is the whole problem! I know its supposed to work just the same as PC BUT it won't I have a MAC and a P.C. I always use the P.C. with Assistant 2 otherwise I will spend my time beating the table and tossing Drones.
If you have No computer at all,You need a computer lol.

I have no computer, and last owned one 10 years ago. No problems with my other DJI drones, inspire 1, mini 4k, air 2, air 3, phantom 4 pro and the Avata 2.

The Avata 2 is hurt, having seen all the press about the Neo. Others have heard strange, whiny mewlings coming from Avata 2 motors.

Try putting the Avata 2 in a different room. Pamper it, tell it it's the finest drone DJI ever made. No one soars the heights, shoots the gaps like she does. Give her a name. I suggest "Hello Kitty".

Then try to pair the Neo 100 yards away from home in a Faraday Cage, and maybe the Avata won't be able to interfere.

🤣🤣

Hope you get your replacement ASAP! Amazon's still not shipping until the 10th, so my only relief is cracking jokes 😁

I have not bought from Amazon, my Avata 2 I ordered yesterday comes from DJI and so does the Neo. DJI indicated yesterday it would ship today and be here Oct. 8th. The unpairable neo is boxed up and I’ll be dropping it at ups maybe Friday.

It's too bad you couldn't use the Assist 2. I had a problem pairing my Mavic 3 pro with a controller and the Assist program straightened it out by removing and uploading the program to both units which allowed them to connect. I don't know if Assist 2 will run on a phone or not. Maybe you could borrow someone's computer?

The Neo is still here in the box waiting to be driven to a UPS location because I have not received the printed label yet. DJI sends a barcode, it needs to be scanned by UPS and then a label is made. I’m going to try and locate a pc today I can use and try the assist 2 with dji tech walking me thru what it is I need to do.

I hope it works out for you. A lot faster and easier than shipping it back.

Yeah I hope it works too. Got an email today from DJI, they shipped my Avata 2 and one battery, goggle 3 and MC3, and rest of flymore package coming in second box. The recent LiPo factory fire in China, they said shipper will only allow 2 batteries per box. The first email they said my goggles 3 and mc3 and other batteries will ship later. I had customer service on a chat a minute later while I was getting a bit ticked off, as it had me thinking I get the drone and the other parts get here who knows when. Well they assured me both boxes shipped today and I got tracking on both. Went on a drive today to check out a Mavic 2 Pro flymore package with backpack case. Added another to my fleet! 😁

Good luck pairing the rc2, I tried everything and wasted 2 hours easy and went thru all three batteries trying everything. Had a hard time just activating it. I have a few DJI and never any problems activating or pairing, this one has been a huge headache and it just got here at 4pm. I’ll try DJI tech support tomorrow. If I can’t get it paired its being returned. I’m not flying with the silly cell phone app and the preprogrammed and no controller, nope!
Same here. Asking for a refund. I give up. Didn't get far with DJI help.

How did you try pairing?
It was really simple for me:
- Ensure the RC2 is on the latest firmware level
- On the RC2 tap onto Connection Tutorial, scroll to the Neo, then go into the camera view (tap upper right corner), then open the main menu (tap the three dots upper right corner), then tap on Control, scroll down to Connect Aircraft and select it
- Long press the Neo power button to get it into binding mode
Both devices should connect now.

I tried pairing the way DJI instructed me to. It didn’t work. The DJI tech could not make it work, I tried what he was recommending. My full refund hit my bank yesterday and I had filled out a replacement form and shipped it with the drone. Kinda glad they refunded the $289 now, as I’m buying a new Honda pioneer for $25,000 and could use the few hundred more than I need the Neo. My Avata 2 is used almost daily, also my mavic pro daily flyer.

I got my refund too. I had no problem linking the goggles with the controller. Really wanted the neo to work. I was going to use it to practice using the goggles. That way if I screwed up it would be cheaper to replace than mini 4 pro.

Well I like flying the Avata 2 and really wanted the Neo for my goggles and motion controller, but connecting to my air 3 controller was also a must. Maybe I’ll pick one up once they get the bugs out. The Neo was going to be my daily flyer for the property here. I had plans to camouflage it like I did the Avata 2.IMG_5548.jpeg

@Neo Avata, consider that thousands upon thousands of neos have been shipped, and just a few have had these problems.

I had no problem pairing everything, and fly the neo with all the different control options (even the crap wifi control with the phone).

So i wouldn't let this issue stop you.

BTW which wrap brand is that? I like it!

I was able to pair it with my iPhone no problem. MightySkins is the drone skin wrap. Found it on Amazon, they have a boatload of camouflage options, colors galore. I looked at maybe 100 colors/patterns, everything from dinosaurs to donut holes, 😉 Also they give wrap material for like every little spot on this drone, motion controller and goggles. I didn’t think the wrap for the propeller blades what a good idea, and the area surrounding the props I left stock.
