Has anyone done a motor swap? I was looking for an upgrade and I was looking at these, Mobula 8" EX1103 11,000kv. My question is are they compatible? And are they a direct swap with no modifications?

Thanks Bill

Very doubtful

Ytube Videos by IIRC Cak 3. Switch out the stock motors with the Mobula 8 motors. Assuming no issues with motor mount dimensions. Has posted a wiring diagram in one video "short". In another video a test flight. Inexpensive option v. the few used motors available at eBay. ~$40(GetFPV) to ~$55(Amazon) for 4 motors. The MadsTech Neo teardown and Cak3 shows how simple it is to access the flight board to desolder the motor leads. The difficult step might be fishing the wires through the frame/prop guards.

Doesn't seem to be an upgrade in terms of performance (ie., power and flight times). Just an option when needing to replace a motor until or if ever DJI offers OME replacement motors.

I have one motor with what might be wonky "bearings". So far, a shot of CorrisionX has kept the Neo flying. CorrisionX is a conformal cleaner, lubricant, and waterproofer I've used on non-motor components for wet condition flying. If purchasing. Use the "marine" grade. Not the heavy duty. Heavy duty has the consistency of peanut butter. Normal is light weight spray. Minimal application is better than heavy. No need for use on motors. Just electronic components and connections that don't like water.

Just checked the cloudcitydrone.com website. It's the only seller of new parts for the Neo that I can find. $29 per motor. OUCH! Don't loose your gimbal cover. $18 per cover. OUCH, OUCH! Aircraft main body cover if needing to replace it and/or propeller guards is $29. Not too painful.

Mobula8 motors are significantly less at ~$10 each. But, we are assuming they will not cause any issues with the NEO's ESC. Bummer to have a brownout or worse. The good is with the Mobula8 you can experiment with a variety of brands and designs of propellers. Have no issues with the stock props. Cost is bit on the high side. But $5 vs. $2 for a set of 4 non-dji brand isn't much.
