Late morning session on the ice. Blue sky ahead of the clouds and probably snow from a CO Low. Colorado Lows usually dump moisture S of here, but sometimes we get backside Lake Effect. So many warm days in a row has melted all the surface snow. Hard, slippery surface. Really dark navy blue to turquoise ice with interesting "crack" patterns. Must be relatively thick or not the most intelligent people (ones that drove their trucks out) ice fishing. It's been years since this amount of ice has formed nearshore. ~4nm out is open water. Mouth of the 3 rivers along this ~2.5km of beach are wide open into the Lake. Must be more fish close to open mouths based on the number of people set up. Too close for my comfort. Imagine breaking through and having the river current push you further out under the ice.
6 batteries later and one sort of crash based on total battery counts and assuming I land with 30% capacity left in the batteries. 102.8 Neo flights. Don't ask how many times I have crashed. Don't want to remember. But only damage has been 3 propellers needing replacement. Todays crash was more of a hard landing way short of the landing pad. I think it is time to give up trying to hit the landing pad in Manual mode. Even sort of missed the pad in N mode with a sudden gust.
Air temp reached +4C/39F. Was initially using the recently acquired tx glove box. It was almost too warm with the sun's IR heating the black glove box. Put it aside. Plus a runny nose issue made it inconvenient.
