Yes, I have read this. However, I don't like using the phone as a controller. So, what I do is use a recording app on my phone, I start recording and blend the audio file with the video file in post.

The only downside (video coming soon) is that the audio is out of sync, so yes not the best thing, as you say it's better to use something else, but if it's just the quad and phone out in the field it's a good idea

And it cancels the drone noise, which is convenient

If only you could use both at the same time! However, since you can't, in my case, I combine the two in post. I do pick up the noise from the drone, but more of what is being said and background noise for a realistic video. Sycning is not that difficult, First, try to start them both at the same time.

If the sound of the drone is overbearing, I can edit the audio and reduce that sound in my audio editing software before the final job. I know this sounds like a lot of work, and to be honest, it is something I just don't do a lot of. Most, if not all my videos are of commercial real estate and I just add music

When I flew my SPARK, the Go4 app had an option to record audio to the device when recording video for future use.

I learned a while back that Hollywood uses a clapper board for each scene as a visual and audible cue to assist when syncing the two.

I had an extra phone and used a clapper app from the app stores that I would use in front of the SPARK camera while recording before lift off.



Clapping of the hands worked as well.
