Hello all,

Recently my kids have been having a lot of fun with the Tello and it's Python API.

With the release of the Neo, what is known about it coding capabilities? Forum search has

Any experienced folks would understand if it is compatible with the Mobile SDK and therefore with GitHub - dkapur17/DJIControlServer: Embedded ReST Server for controlling DJI Drones ?

Looking forward to hear alternative workarounds to the lack of official programming capabilities.

Topic of reverse engineering of the Fly App is a bit of a grey area regarding this Forums' Terms of Services, but would like to understand if it is possible to discuss it when it has the end goal of educational purposes. It would be absolutely awesome to have access to the drone's hardware and rig it up to OpenCV and level up on the Tello.

Will happily edit this topic according to guidance provided.

Thank you

Edit: Link found in sister site mavicpilots.com to dump wifi packets with camera support: GitHub - Toemsel/dji-wifi-tools

Lacking an SDK, programmatic control is going to be difficult to impossible. IMO the chances of DJI expending the resources for an SDK for this drone are very very scant.

DJI has closed their STEAM / EDU deparment, Tello and Robomaster are slowly vanishing. So I don't think we will ever see any simple SDK similar to what Tello has.

Thank you all for the welcoming messages.

Extremely sad to learn this. Searched up and there is source for this info in DJI to continue after-sales support for education division in US .

I guess we are now on the hands of skilled reversed engineers to be able to program these flying machines. DJI Android apps have been notoriously hard to reverse: DJI - The ART of obfuscation

I hope someone with skills, time and motivation can pick up this challenge.

Best regards,

All is not lost... The Air 2, Mini 3, and Mini 2 all have SDK support. The mini's are pretty affordable drones too.

I was very pleased to see Tello which enables hackers and makers to build very interesting stuff using Tello and its SDK. This was such a joyful era, where DJI was supporting creative makes. I am still wishing at someday DJI returns with its "NEO SDK" or something similar.
