I agree. It's more natural to fly the drone in landscape mode than in portrait mode. Also, now the camera feed takes up the whole screen so you can see what you are filming/photographing much better. It's actually usable now to fly with the phone, albeit mushy and imprecise that no-haptic-feedback virtual sticks always are. But in a pinch when all you have is the neo and your phone (often, I expect) and you need to control it, this is sooooooooo much better.
I also use the RC-N3 controller that came in my FMC and it's my preferred way to fly the drone, however the simplicity of flying with the phone only cannot be overstated. It's easier and quicker to launch and you don't have as much stuff to carry. For me I think I would be using the phone only, much more if DJI would only add camera adjustments like sharpness, but for fine control you cannot beat using a controller. For example, yesterday I flew down into a ravine where there is a small stream to take photos. It is heavily treed and I would not attempt this without a controller.Me too.
Test flight with the virtual sticks was better, but...
DJI RC-N3 Remote Controller
is on it's way for better control.
