    Neo & RC2

When I do it, it's explicitly to capture the telemetry and other OSD elements.

    Neo 2 crashed

The OA should have detected a bush. Was it turned off?

    Where's Baldo?

    I found him!

Neo with FPV Controller 3 behavior

In manual, the drone isn't completely pure manual control... that would be you controlling the RPM of each of the 4 motors independently with 4 separate controls. Near impossible. So, there's still a Flight Controller in the picture. In Manual mode, it attempts to hold attitude – that is...

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

@Chrislaf, A direct comparison is complicated, because the hardware and method has changed substantially. The Neo VPS camera is a limited FOV pinhole type that only uses Optical Flow processing for positioning. The Neo 2 has no dedicated VPS camera. Instead there is a 180 camera on top and...

    Avata 360 leaks

I understand your hesitation regarding the Observer rule. I decided to ignore it most of the time because where I fly FPV, there is no tangible risk at all in not having one, and it's not a rule that I believe has ever, even once, been enforced in a typical recreational FPV situation. I think...

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

More... Odd thing: Neo 2 supports Mastershots feature, but only on the phone via wifi... When flying with the RC-N3 or RC2, Mastershots is not available. Nor are a few Quickshots that can only be selected from phone/wifi or via the drone on-board display and buttons.

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

More notes... Neo 2 supports Precision Landing. Does not support the more advanced RTH introduced with the Air 3S, where the drone follows a complex outbound path that can go under trees, through buildings, etc. without GPS. That would be asking a lot from the lowest-end drone in the lineup.

    Avata 360 leaks

Simplify the process?!? I'd say so... a single capture! And if you haven't got FPV gear yet (I think you were toying with it), get the Fly More Combo with the Goggles and you can use your Neo too!

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

One important upgrade from the Neo is the 2 now sets a Home Point with phone-only app control, and supports RTH. Essential if you're over a frozen lake and something goes very wrong (Chris 😁) Or you just stupidly forgot to charge your phone. Not something I've ever done, oh no. Never. Never...

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

Just using my engineer spidey sense, the antennae sure look designed to flex quite a bit without damage. I'm not worried about it.

Neo 2: Notes, observations, surprises as I test and learn

@RcHawks yeah, really annoying. There seem to be two basic designs DJI has used over the years, I'll call them the Phantom style and Mavic style. Phantom style batteries slide in and latch. Mavic style insert from the top, pushed down to engage and lock. Neo was Phantom. Neo 2 is Mavic. I...

    Neo obstacle avoidance impressive

Took the neo 2 out for a short walk to a nearby park, in autonomous follow mode, and it performed flawlessly. Here is the clip from the walk back, where I had it follow from the front flying backwards. Does a great job flying around poles, trees, through "corridors" of tree canopy, etc. Also a...

Okay, YOU don't. The rest of the casual, recreational owners, different story. Ask if they have their TRUST certificate, blank stare.
